Pretty average meal last week at Da Edoardo. Perhaps expectations were too high going in. My girlfriend and her family frequent DA several times a month and I've heard about it for years. It's amazing it has taken me this long to pay them a visit but it finally happened. The meal got off to a poor start with the bread. I think most folks are using to olive oil with their bread at Italian restaurants, but if a solid butter is offered, who am I to complain? Unfortunately, that is exactly what I got, a SOLID butter. The butter was literally rock hard and cold and looked like it was just lopped off the end of a regular stick of butter. This was an immediate frustration and I thought the bread was lacking besides. We split the Pizza Lombardia as an appetizer. No issues here. Even had a piece left over that I made the next day and it was still delicious, For the entree I elected for the Chicken Marsala which my girlfriend recommended as a solid staple. The entree comes with salad or minestrone soup and I elected for the latter. Unlike the pizza, this was a poor choice. The soup was just blah and I was also put off by the fact that the waiter did not offer parmesan or fresh ground pepper. The marsala made up for the poor minestrone though. I thought the marsala sauce and mushrooms were delicious. Easily one of the best marsala dishes I've had. The asparagus and potato that accompanied the chicken were cooked perfectly as well. My girlfriend swears the waiter was one of the poorest she has had in her several dozen trips to DA. With better service and smarter menu choices on my part, this place could be a 4/5 stars easily. The decor and view out of the back windows is stellar. I'll update the review after my next trip.

This fine restaurant is a gem, the only New York caliber food in Genesee County. Consistent, beautifully prepared, fine ingredients, salads expertly dressed -- the calamari is standout, as good as I've had anywhere. The salmon in lobster sauce is wonderful, the squash-filled housemade tortelli are also a treat. The thin crust pizzas are perfect, crisp and chewy... Housemade tiramisu is first rate. But... the mixed drinks are widely uneven -- sometimes their lemon drop or pomegranite martini is on the money, fresh squeezed juice etc., other times it's undrinkable syrupy mess. The non housemade desserts are not worth it you can get the same not fully thawed raspberry torte/chocolate cake/cheesecake/carrot cake from any restaurant that purchases them from Gordon Foods or wherever Redwood Lodge, Luca's et. al get theirs. They've never been able to brew a decent cup of capuccino, I don't know why. The bar scene is usually friendly and hopping, but it doesn't encroach on the dining area -- this is a nice place to bring the children if they are well-behaved. View is beautiful and the outdoor seating in summer is lovely.

Went here for the first time last night and loved it. I just wish they had better bread at the table. It was just ok. I guess I am just used to high end places having outstanding bread. Other than that everything was really good. Yes the prices are a little steep but what do you expect from a high end place? The wait staff was also great so we had no issues at all. Carrot cake was SO good!!!

this is a zero rating as i wasn't able to dine here. unfortunately, i have to provide at least one star to write a review. anyway... my wife wanted to dine here saturday for her birthday. upon entering, what may be the world's worst hostess addressed my wife and i with "yeah?". after being informed that we would like a table for two, her reply was "we're full...". we had to ask if we could put our name in for a table and were told "it will be an hour", no alternative provided. we would have gladly waited for an hour at the bar, but it was apparent this hostess was hellbent on turning business away and unknowingly defecating on someone's birthday wish. if you are opened to serve the public, it would be a wise choice not to place someone whose social skills are the equivalent of a 3 year old child, at the doors to be the face of your establishment.

Not impressed, food was expensive and it wasn't that good. I guess if you have lots of money to throw away than this is the place to go. I'd rather spend my money on good food and if that means paying good money for it then so be it but to waste it on just ok food- no thanks! I would not recommend this restaurant!

Great service. Great food. Great atmosphere on the patio. However, a glass of tequila was $15!

I've planned two private events at Da Edoardo North over the past two years and have had excellent experiences! Concerning dinner in Grand Blanc, there aren't a ton of options. Da Edoardo North has proven to be a great choice for a diverse crowd. Firstly, I had to call multiple times after making my reservation to ask questions or make changes. Everyone I spoke with on the phone was very accommodating and friendly. When it came to the evening of my party, I found everyone to be just as helpful. If possible, I definitely recommend reserving the downstairs room for a private party. Both of my experiences involved very attentive waitstaff that dealt with a party of 30 extremely well. To start, we ordered a bunch of family-style appetizers which were delicious. Highly recommend the calamari, bruschetta, and squares of pizza. For entrees, we went with a smaller menu for the event which definitely sped things up. Our guests chose between salmon, filet, chicken, and lasagna and I heard great things from everyone. I personally had the salmon and it was cooked perfectly, came with a delicious lobster sauce, roasted potatoes, and asparagus. Great portion size and flavors. Both times I've dined with a group of 30, and I was pleasantly surprised at how fast the food arrived. Our guests were not kept waiting long which was awesome. The waiters that were designated to our group were helpful and listened to our needs throughout the party. Dessert is always a hit at Da Enoardo, whether it's the tiramisu or sundae. I have to commend the staff for their patience with our party. On a weeknight, our guests were chatting and staying pretty late (after 10 PM), but the staff never pushed us out or made us feel like we had to leave. It really meant a lot for our guests to have a memorable night that wasn't rushed. Overall, highly recommend Da Edoardo North for a special dinner in Grand Blanc.

The food is superb. Pricey, but worth it. I know it's not really a child friendly place, being very fancy and all, but since I saw they had a kid's menu I took my kids once (for lunch). The staff weren't very considerate about it, placing glasses and hot plates within my kid's reach. I could tell they were not very welcome.

Food quality is always very good and the service attentive. We have visited here many times but can only afford this place when local coupons are available. We had one bad experience with a waitress who expected a large tip for her less than satisfactory service. She was nice to us during the mal but failed to return to our table once the food was served.. When she saw that we tipped her $10 on our $80 ticket, she was furious and her mood toward us changed immediately and I actually overheard her commenting to a fellow co worker about the tip. I mean really!!

It was definitely worth the price! I went there with 5 friends for a valentine's group date and it was pretty great. The lighting and table design was pretty classy. The waiter was very polite and punctual. Also, the food was very well prepared. I ordered the new york strip which was a huge steak with potatoes and asparagus. Even at medium-rare, it was amazing! Definitely a great place to go at special ocassions. With the price, just not an everyday thing unless you have a bit to spend!

We had a great time celebrating our anniversary and the wait staff did an outstanding job. The food was excellent and served quickly. I think we found our new place for our date nights.

Went here on a date with my boyfriend. I had only been there once previously and he had never been. We had the best meal of our lives and it was fantastic. I can't wait to go back. The only downside is our waitress wasn't very friendly and I think it might have been because we were young. We still left a great tip for her and hopefully next time she serves younger people she brings them refills on drinks.

To be completely honest, the food was incredible. I had heard before visiting that the service was horrible and I would like to say that the service is better described as, average. In my opinion, a meal just as delicious, for about $12 less per person and IMPECCABLE service can be found around the corner at Lucas Steakhouse. I still can't understand Grand Blanc's acceptance of strip-mall-fine-dining; but, if you choose to follow suit, Edoardosisn't the one I would suggest at this point in time. I also don't want to be too harsh, so I plan to visit again in hopes of having a knock-your-socks-off experience.

Hard butter was served with the bread and both pasta dishes were very tasteless and the sauce was extremely runny. not a good night

GREAT! Went here on a whim with some friends while in Flint, MI for work. We were a bit underdressed but it didn't seem to be an issue. Wait staff knowledgeable and true masters of their craft; amazing recommendations and knew the menu backwards and forwards. Met the owner, and being as we are military, we got free drinks and discounts on the food. Way to make us feel welcome! I had fettuccine Alfredo with shrimp. Sauce was rich and creamy without being too rich. Shrimp was surprisingly fresh considering how far this place is from the ocean. Great place to take a date or have a romantic anniversary dinner.

Another wonderful lunch at our favorite place in Genesee county. Food was delicious. Chicken Marsala! Jeannie, our server couldn't have been more accommodating. As usual, the views from the dining area were fantastic.

My husband and I have dined here a few times and each was a great experience. The service and food are both very good. I particularly like their minestrone soup. The prices are reasonable considering that each meal comes with your choice of soup or salad. Their desserts are also tasty and slightly unique.

My girlfriend and I wanted to go to a nice dinner out, just the girl's. I had been here previously years ago, so I thought I would take her and see how this restaurant held up. I am glad to report it was wonderful! We walked in and announced ourselves with our reservations and were seated right away though we were early. I had requested a table by the window and got it! We started with calamari - me being a non seafood person, I loved it! I ordered a Veal dish that I thought was the one I had previously. I requested extra capers. and my potatoes friend ordered the same. Luckily our waiter came back and asked if I was sure I wanted the dish I ordered or did I want the Veal Piccata. YES - that was what I meant to order - he noticed there were no capers in the dish I ordered and caught that.. I was extremely happy! We then asked if we could have pasta instead of potatoes so we could taste their sauce... I was so happy he was able to accommodate that too! The veal piccata didn't require a knife - it melted like butter! The white wine/lemon/garlic sauce and capers set it off perfectly. I enjoyed having the pasta with it. The sauce was wonderful. I wasn't happy with the veggies, but the other foods set it off. We topped it off with a great chianti. It was $35 so wasn't bad in the realm of overpriced wines in restaurants. We didn't have room for dessert because we both literally cleaned our plates! This was one of hte best dinners I have had in a while! The company, food, waiter, and restaurant were all excellent.. Now I have to go back to try dessert! :)

Very nice atmosphere, the location is in a quite mall across from cinemas. Nice decor and live music in the evenings add to the ambiance. In the summer you can select in or outdoor seating. We had dinner for four on a recent week night. The food is fresh and well prepared. I particularly enjoy the wilted baby spinach appetizer. Prices are higher than most area restaurants, portion size is small. The wait staff is skilled and professional. This is our 3rd visit, and we've been pleased each time.

So I will start out with the fact that I used to go to Da Edoardo's a good amount as a kid and haven't been since they had to remodel when they had some flooding issues a few years ago. My mom decided that we'd give it a go again this evening for my birthday dinner. Overall I was extremely disappointed. To start off with when we arrived the hostess was seated eating french fries and was wearing sneakers and jeans. I remember back in the day being greeted by a hostess dressed to the nines and automatically getting that feeling of class. Also even though it was quiet and appeared overstaffed the service was very slow. The strange olive oil combined with a ton of parmesan cheese dip for the bread was also a bit bizarre since that normally isn't the way that I've known it to be served before. We were ready to order appetizers and when asking the waitress that had been bringing us bread responded with "hasn't your waiter been with you yet?" Which no he hadn't even stopped by to even introduce himself. The slowness from him continued on, we actually had to stop him so we could order an appetizer as well as later when ordering dinner. I don't know about anyone else but generally at a nice restaurant the waitstaff come by, introduce themselves and the specials, and stop to ask if we have any questions about the menu. None of that occurred. The service I can get over but the food was also a disappointment. The side salad included lettuce"butts" and browned edges, just unappetizing. My wine had floaties as well. I ordered a pasta dish with shrimp and the shrimp had an ammonia taste that made me start to feel ill and were also overcooked. I barely ate the shrimp and the pasta only a couple fork fulls. When telling the waiter that the shrimp was not fresh and that they tasted chemically (which means they have started to turn and it's very dangerous to serve bad seafood) his first response was "Maybe it's the way they cook it. Should I box the pasta separate?" Unless it's cooked in pool cleaner it should not taste that way. I didn't want any of it at this point. As someone who also works in customer service I found his answer unsatisfactory and he never even offered to try and fix the problem. I will say though that my brother in law found his steak to be good and my mom and sister found their meals to be pretty average. Normally I only order steak there so maybe that's the only thing they can make. I was also surprised that the manager never stopped by the check in, which is a normal there and any restaurant I've been to. We did see him at other tables as well as other tables getting better service. The favoritism shown just made us feel unwelcome. And upon leaving there was no one there to say "have a good night," or "come back again." Even Applebee's has someone there to say "have a good night." I'm sorry, I tried to give them another chance but they've gone down hill and their attitude of playing favorites with customers will get them nowhere with the general public.

I am not a big fan. The food is good and the place is quite nice but I find it to be very expensive for what you get. The service has always been great but I find the food portions kinda small especially for the money paid. Good place to take someone for a good impression but it will cost you and you will still be hungry! An empty wallet and an empty stomach!

I'm not terribly familiar with the other restaurants in this area, but when I met with some clients here for a lunch meeting, I was very impressed. Da Edoardo North has a very nice atmosphere, some fantastic servers and a very solid menu. We sat near the large windows, which afforded us a fantastic view of some of the surrounding wetlands in the area. Even though it was gray and rainy on this particular day, we enjoyed the views and seeing some of the wildlife that was near the river bank. I opted for the special, which was a Cesar Salad with Ahi Tuna. I asked that the chef prepare mine seared. Excellent control over the cooking process. I very much enjoyed the atmosphere, the meal and would certainly return with clients again.

"Woohoo! As good as it gets!" - especially for the culinary wasteland that is Genesee County. Sad as I was that Kruse and Muer left the Grand Mall, I am yet consoled that this restaurant persists (how, I am not sure). The view is really spectacular - really! - and is best in the summer, from the outdoor patio. Service is speedy and smooth. The food is similar to the other outposts in metro Detroit, which is a godsend. My favorite starter is the mussels with the spicy marinara, or arrabiata (which, scooped by their crusty yet soft Italian loaf, is fantastic). I like their take on chicken marsala, the grilled salmon, and linguine alla vongole. My meat-loving family loves the steak Diane. The wine list is great. Don't skip dessert! Who skips tira mi su? Please, please, please, please don't close, please.

Excellent food, atmosphere and service. Drinks: Only two beers on tap! But I guess for a classy Italian restaurant, that's two more than most would expect. The wine list was extensive. Atmosphere: There was a very talented singer that was not too loud or annoying. The seating in the main dining room is elegant and offers a fantastic view of nature. The bar area seemed more casual with TVs playing the wings game and the live singer, but it was filled with an older crowd. Some people were dressed in suits, others had nice jeans and button downs. Next time I'm rocking my jeans and button down. Food: My girlfriend and I had a difficult time deciding what to get because everything on the menu sounded great. We ended up getting the Gamberoni Portofino, house salads with italian dressing, Tortellaci (jumbo Tortellini) Alla Bolognese, and Linguine Alle Vongole. All tasted great. Good portion sizes, I wasn't too full after I devoured my meal. Service: the hostess allowed us to choose our seats. The waitress knew the menu well and was not constantly annoying us. Water was frequently refilled. Check was brought on time. Overall a solid experience, excited to go back and try more food.

The young waiter tried very hard but his lack of training was evident. The food was not good and the presentation even worse, namely the calamari and the tenderloin sliders. This calamari was one of the stellar items at one time. Got a look at the cook/chef as well as a good look at his filthy clothing and exposed midsection when he made an appearance at the beverage station to refill his glass. One of the waitstaff was replenishing the stemware on the top shelf of the beverage station and pushed some wine stems off the shelf which shattered into the ice and the bar area where 3 patrons(one was an obvious "regular") were eating and drinking. The owner came over well after the incident and his response was "it's always something". The wedge salad was good. The location is spectacular.

Food was decent. Nothing special for the price though. Very small on vegetable portions with the fillet I ordered. I mean really? 4 sprigs of asparagus! Wife had the ravioli filled with butternut squash. Was good, but extremely rich. Sat at the bar and the service was average at best. Bartenders were too busy chatting with regulars to keep drinks full. Same exact meal can be had at Brick Street for 35-40% less. Will not return.

Never again! Don't waste your time or money. I don't mind paying good money for food that's worth it, this place missed it by a long shot. Food was not seasoned at all. If I wanted to have salt and pepper on my food I should have stayed home and cooked. Ordered the lamb chops rare, they came out medium well and served on a bed of iceberg lettuce. For over $30??? Broccoli on another dish came out as trees with no seasoning. The potato wrapped halibut looked like it had shredded hash browns only on the top. The potato wedge served with the halibut was the only item with seasoning. The only good thing was our waiter Matt.

I really like this place. I live in Los Angeles, but my parents still live in Grand Blanc. My folks really like this place and they've taken us there a number of times. I always enjoy the food and they have a very nice wine list. It's a great place for a nice dinner out. It's a wonderful place for a family reunion or a first date or a special occasion. While it's in a sort of weird, poorly designed strip mall, the interior decor is fairly refined. The concierge, bar tenders & wait staff are always polite, friendly & helpful. I highly recommend Da Edoardo. You won't be disappointed.

I'm pretty picky about Italian restaurants, and I'll definitely be back. The salad was excellent. We received good, fresh bread. Pasta portions were a little smaller than I anticipated, but very well prepared. All around a good experience.

I really enjoyed this place. The restaurant was packed the only time I've been there, so you know their doing something right. Northern Italian cuisine..... lots of heavy creams in their sauces, so that's both good and bad. Great taste, but adds weight to already heavy food. Wedge salad was the largest wedge I've ever had. Excellent. Grilled zucchini app was OK, but nothing outstanding. The bread served with your meal comes with the usual olive oil/balsalmic mixture, but they add some spice (I think) and lots of parmesan. Awesome. I ordered a beef/veal stuffed jumbo tortellini dish. Very good, but the sauce was supposed to be a bolonese sauce. To me, bolognese usually means a meaty red sauce. This came out light orange in color with a teeny tiny bit of ground beef in it. Should have known - the waiter mentioned before that the sauces all had a cream base. So this is perhaps my fault - maybe I just don't understand what bolognese means. Not sure. Either way, the dish was good, but not great. Wish I would have chosen something else. The entire menu looked strong. The rest of my party really enjoyed their dishes, too. Service was efficient, but not aggressive or pushy. They brought out a complimentary tiramisu at the end of the meal. I only had one bite - I was so full - but it was also very good. Probably the best restaurant around.

A Gem in Grand Blanc. Met a friend for lunch and she suggested Da Edoardo. Hard to find as it is in a shopping/medical plaza, but once inside, you forget the hurried world outside. Beautiful atmosphere, white table cloths, and an amazing view of the riverbank. The outdoor seating was closed, but it looked very inviting on a warm summer night. Wine list was reasonable (so were the prices) and food was great. Minnestrone soup (one of my favorites) was very good, salad was fresh and pasta sauce very tasty. Waitstaff was attentive, but not pushy. There are four locations, but this one is a must for a very romantic evening......or lunch with a girlfriend!

Went there for our anniversary. Didn't have a reservation so we sat at the bar, bartender was very polite and knowledgeable about mixed drinks. We ordered a canalonni dish and my wife had a seafood dish. We both left VERY happy. My dish was made with fresh, handmade spinich pasta with a delicious cheese filling. It was so filling I ended up saving half for the next day. I'd say it's something like upscale casual. You could get away with nice jeans and a nice top if you're a guy but it's also a place where dressing up a bit is very comfortable. The only downside I can find is the price. I think between our meals, a mixed drink and a beer our bill was well over $70. A very very nice place and we'll certainly be back but it's not a place we can frequent with any regularity.

We went there for dinner a few months ago the steak diane was great, all the food was good, the service was sad the waiter never checked to see how are entrees were,And never could get another drink. It was late night and not that busy. The one bright spot was the busser Given me more bread, water, clearing the table and he at least asked me how are meal was I felt like I should have gave the busboy the tip

As a longtime Genesee County resident, I too was disappointed at the demise of Kruse and Muer in Grand Blanc. Da Edoardo has been on our list for while as a potential "local" culinary experience. For the area, the wine list is impressive (as are the prices). The menu has breadth - something for everyone without distracting from Da Edoardo's Italian specialties. Overall, the food and service are above average.

The food is absolutely outstanding. The service and booze are also top notch. I wouldn't recommend the place for younger kids. Older kids (12+) will find things they like on the menu (the pizza is awesome). Ask for a table on the patio during the summer months. If you don't feel like dressing up, they do take-out!

Italian Cuisine

The immense popularity of Italian cuisine globally isn't unknown. You can find an Italian Pizzeria around every corner of almost every city in the United States. Not to forget that in every house, people enjoy mac and cheese as comfort food. But it would be wrong to believe that Italian food starts with pizza and ends with good pasta as this Mediterranean country has much more to offer other than these two dishes. In Italian Cuisine, there is a high use of fresh tomatoes, all kinds of herbs, great quality of cheese, all types of meat, seafood and fresh handmade pasta. Many find it hard to believe that Italians have been making noodles long back.

Italian and Greek cuisines are always mistaken to be same, but they are poles apart. The primary difference between the two cuisines is the use of cheese in most of the Italian dishes. Italians love to cultivate their own cheese and process them as per their food requirement. It is believed that some cheese is so expensive that cheese producers secure them in lockers.

If you are bored eating the same old pasta or pizza, you can try some of the authentic Italian dishes like Risotto, Polenta, Ribollita, Lasagna, Fiorentina Steak, Bottarga, Ossobuco, Carbonara, Focaccia, Arancini and Supplì. Another item which Italians love to relish every morning is a good cup of Italian Coffee. Once you taste a freshly brewed cup of Italian Coffee, you might not visit Starbucks ever again. Authentic Italian food is made with heart and soul, so go find a restaurant where you can relish Italian cuisine in your city.
